Cheltenham 2022 Day 1

The weather looks near perfect and all is in ready for a bumper edition of the Cheltenham Festival.

Add to this that spectators will be back!

Tuesday's feature is the Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy, Gr. 1 with 10 runners but all eyes will be on Honeysuckle.  The lovely mare will be going for all sorts of records not least of which is back to back in this race and she looks to be in great form having recently won her third Irish Champion Hurdle.  Of course she's odds on.  Most likely of the challengers is Appreciate it (Mullens- Townend) who won the Supreme Novices' last year and is on 4/1 and two more-generously placed runners who could feature in the finish are Adagio on 18/1 and Zarrahiyr who has been collecting seconds, also on the same quote.

Things start off with the Supreme Novices' Hurdle with 9 runners and at this stage looking to be between Dysart Dynamo 9/4 and Constitution Hill 5/2.  Jonbon 4/1 and Kilcruit 6/1 also are in the reckoning.

The Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase Gr 1 has 11 runners with Edwardstone looking to continue his winning ways on 11/4.  Blue Lord is the Mullens-Townend rep on 7/2 and Rivière d'Etat is 4/1.  We are tempted to have a little e/w on Coeur Sublime at12/1 with Racheal Blackmore riding for Henry de Bromhead.

The Gr 3 Ultimo Handicap Chase has 24 runners and is sharp pin territory.  The market has Does He Know and Death Duty on 7/1 .  We have to have something on Noble Yeats as we loved his father dearly and 9/1 is OK.  Frodon on 14/1 for Paul Nicholls and Bryony Frost.

The Mares Hurdle is also Gr 1 and has 12 entrants.  Stormy Ireland can add to the Mullins-Townend haul here and she's on 11/2.  Telmesomethinggirl is on 10/3 and Queen's Brook is 4/1 for Elliott-Kennedy.
