It's off to Aintree time

With a couple of busy days on Thursday and Friday and then it's the Grand National 2022!

The weather isn't too great for Thursday with strong winds and light showers but Friday and Saturday should have sunny intervals.

Thursday's events start off with the Novices' Chase Gr 1 with 7 runners.  Pic d'Orhy is current favourite on 9/4 for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden and there are two on 4/1 who could feature – Erne River for Nick Kent  and Charlie Hammond, and Gin On Lime for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore.  She had a fabulous Aintree last year so keep an eye on her rides.

The 4yo Juvenile Hurdle Gr 1 has 9 runners, being led by the appropriately named Pied Piper on even money for Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell.  Brazil is also strongly fancied and is on 2/1 for Padraig Roche and Mark Walsh, and 17/2 there is Petit Tonnerre for the Jonjo O'Neils.

The Betway Bowl Chase is Gr 1 with 7 starters and holding the call Protektorat on 10/3 for the Skeltons.  Clan des Obeaux is on 7/2 for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden and we rather like Eldorado Allen on 11/2 for Colin Tizard and Brendan Powell.

The Aintree Hurdle Gr 1 has 7 runners and according to the market it is a match race between Epitante (Henderson-Coleman) and Zanahiyr (Elliott-Kennedy).  Let's see.

The Red Rum Handicap Chase is Gr 3 and a field of 18 and pretty open too!  Before Midnight is on 6/1 for Sean Thomas and Sam Twiston-Davies, Frere Bourbon 13/2 for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch, on 14/1 Sky Pirate has to be backed because the cat (a pirate) insists, and Zarharova is 16/1 for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore.
