Oka Sho weekend in Japan

The first of the Guineas, the Oka Sho, will be run at Hanshin on Sunday.

As an apéretif we have two G2s today – one at Nakayama and one at Hanshin.

At Nakayama it is the New Zealand trophy for 3yo fillies over 1600m.  On top is Matenro a Daiwa Major filly who will be in the hand of N. Yokoyama, on 2.4.  Not much really between the next two Teegarden by Duramente on 5.5 and Jean Gros by More Than Ready on 6.7.

Derma Gremlin by Dee Majesty is on 8.7 and will be ridden by Mirco Demuro.

At Hanshin it's the Sankei Sport Hai Hanshin Himba for f&m over 1600m.  Andvaranaut is on 3.7, Akaitorino Musume on 3.9, Des Alies on 5/2 and Geraldina on 5.3.

The Oka Sho or Japanese 1000 Guineas is the first classic of the year, is G1 and over 1600m.  Namur is by Harbinger and has won 3 of her 4 starts with excuses for the miss, and she will be in the hands of T. Yokoyama.

Water Navillera is by Silver State and here the Take brothers look after her.  She's proven to be a fighter and 7.2 is a good price.  Circle of Life by Epiphaneia was responsible for inflicting Namur's only defeat in the Juvenile Fillies.  She's on 7.9 with Mirco Demuro in the irons.

Presage Lift is only having her third start but she is also by Harbinger and is undefeated.  Tosaki rides and she's on 10.5.
