Guineas weekend 2022 at Newmarket

It's not starting off that well with very small fields in the races on the Friday.

That's when the Jockey Club Stakes will be run with Yibir a very hot favourite on his return to racing in the UK from Dubai where he ran well to finish second to Shahryar in the Sheema. That of course has propelled him into odds-on status as there are only 6 runners.

We have a roughie here for a quinella and that is the outsider of the field, Red Verdon.

Saturday has a few more horses turning up for the two big races – the G3 Palace House .Stakes for the sprinter and the G1 2000 Guineas.

The Palace House has Henry Candy's Twilight Calls on 3/1 by we have a slight preference for Tis Marvellous on 4/1 for Cox-Kirby, and Came From The Dark is on 5/1 for Ed Walker with Hollie Doyle on board.

The 2000 Guineas lead-up has been all about Native Trail, and the son of Oasis Dream is in the red on 10/11 for Appleby-Buick.  Stablemate Coroebus is by Dubawi and has James Doyle on board and is 9/2.  Aidan O'Brien is sending over Luxembourg with Ryan Moore to ride the son of Camelot and they are on 5/1.

On Sunday the Dahlia Stakes G2 is over 1800m and here Sir Michael Stoute's Ville de Grace is on 2/1 with Ryan Moore riding.  Lilac Road is 3/1 for Haggas-Marquand and we like Ebaiyra from France for Graffard-Soumillon.

The 1000 Guineas over the 1600m has a couple of O'Brien raiders at the top of the market plus the French raider Malavath but we like the Godolphin runner Wild Beauty on 9/1 which is more than just tempting – Appleby-Buick and she has been set for this.  We have a roughie here if roughies are coming in and that is Hello You on 33/1.
