That is the word going round about Flightline after his effortless win in the Met at Belmont USA on Saturday.
He had won his previous 3 races by a combined margin of 35+ lengths and had been off since late last year with a hock issue and so they took their time with him and produced him on Belmont Stakes Day. He didn't disappoint. Although the winning margin was only 6 lengths he was under a hand-only ride from Flavian Prat. We hear he will go to the Pacific Classic and then the Breeders.
The Belmont itself saw a quinella for Todd Pletcher who took out his 8th Belmont with Mo Donegal, a son of Uncle Mo, who led home his stablemate the filly Nest who looks headed towards a nice future. Both horses in the Repole colours. Skippylongstockings was a front runner for much of the race and held on for 3rd. Disappointing run from Rich Strike ditto We The People.
