A thrilling Eclipse Stakes

A race worthy of the horse that gave the race it's name with a great finish.

Photos all round but in the end the win went to Vadeni, the French raider, by a neck from Mishriff who has to be a good thing beaten, and a head back to Native Trail.

Vadeni under Christophe Soumillon and Native Trail under William Buick were slogging it out over the last 100m when all of a sudden Mishriff under David Egan came like a bolt from the blue and almost snagged it.  Mishriff had goofed the start, got blocked a couple of times and got hampered and still managed to produce a great finish which delighted his connections.

Lord North ran well for fourth – just lacking the final punch.

The Sprint saw Michael Appleby's Raasel just get the better of favourite Mitbaahy with Method 12/1 taking home the money for third.
