Grab the bucket and spade and head off to the beach at Deauville.
Sunday's card features the G1 Prix Jean Prat and the G3 Prix de Ris-Orangis. The Jean Prat is for 3yo colts and fillies down the 1200m straight turf course. In the UK Modern Games is favourite for Appleby-Buick having run third in the Jockey Club (Derby) on 11/4 and Irish filly Tenebrism is on 4/1 for O'Brien-Moore – she's by Caravaggio and lacks consistency but does have talent. She also gets the fillies weight allowance – not so vital in a sprint but useful just the same.
We rather like one of the locals in this – Razgar is from the Aga Khan's stud and is by Exceed and Excel out of a Sea The Stars dam. Francis Graffard does the training and Soumillon will ride and they are on 7/1 which looks value. We also have a roughie here in the Dark Angel filly Mangostine prepared by Mikael Delzangles and Olivier Peslier does the steering and 14/1 not bad if you can get it – ignore her last run at Royal Ascot.
The Ris-Orangis is over 1400m and it is quite open. At present Garrus is on 4/1 for Charlie Hills and Ryan Moore with the locals headed by Fast Raaj on 9/2 with Benoist riding for Barberot. He's useful but most of his wins have come on All Weather tracks. Another raider is Wings of War on 5/1 for Clive Cox and Kieren Shoemark.
