Nearing End of Term at Sha Tin

It's a case of trainers getting runs for their horses before the season ends on 16th July.

The sales seem to have gone well but probably the best news that came out of Sha Tin is that John Size has been given another 5 year term which is carrying him past the 70 cut off which was increased from 65 for John Moore.  From our perspective having an age limit for trainers has always seemed ridiculous – if they are still happy to get up in the middle of the night and are doing their job well they should be allowed to continue regardless of the anni domini.

So Sunday's card has a lot of opportunities for trainers to make their owners happy (and owners and others will be allowed in unless they have Covid or a in quarantine etc.)  WE have to wait for the last race to get a Class 2 and it is over 1400m and has amazingly a full field.

Favourite is the relative newcomer Keefy who is already a c&d winner and looks very handy.  He had a reasonable record in Australia and Frankie Lor is bringing him steadily up through the grades.  Moreira rides and they are on 3.6.  Richard Gibson's Navas Two is tackling the trip in company with his usual partner Maia and they are on 8.3.

Also in the reckoning is Circuit Stellar on 5.2 and the next best in the market is Captain Win on 10.0 with Purton riding for David Hall.

For those interested in such things coming in to today Zac Purton leads Joao Moreira by 2 wins with 30 races left in the season.
