Le Quatorze Juillet

14th July is Bastille Day, the French National Day, and they're racing at Longchamp.

It's an evening meeting with 3 Group races and presumably fireworks and festivities after.

Unfortunately each of these races only has 3 runners so better for watching than betting.

The Prix Malloret is G2 for 3yo fillies and the two on top of the market here are the Aga Khan's Baliykara, a daughter of Zarak, who is with Francis Graffard and will be ridden as usual by Christophe Soumillon.  They are on 2/1.

The Grand Prix de Paris has a long and illustrious history and has been run at various distances over the years but the present length of 2400m was established on 2005 and the winner that year was Scorpion, bred by our Irish friend John Collaran of Grangemore Stud, set the record of 2.24.30.

This year's edition has two sons of Frankel – L'Astronome Graffard-Soumillon, and Onesto with Chappet and Pasquier.  5/2 and 3/1 are the quotes so not much between them.

The Prix Maurice de Neuil is G2 for 4y+ over 2800m.  English raider Quickthorn is a solid performer – Hughie Morrison trains and Tom Marquand has the ride.  11/10.  We are adding a roughie here – a German raider Diamantis who has had success over 3200m and since the going is rated soft that should work out well.  Andreas Suborics trains and Martin Seidle rides and they are on 8/1.
