Another tune in Stradivarius

After his gallant second to Kyprios in the Goodwood Cup he's probably not going to be retired.

That was almost bigger news than the win of Kyprios who is due to run next in the Irish St Leger (which is not restricted to 3yos) and could even be considering the Melbourne Cup – should say his connections considering on his behalf.

Trueshan ran a great race for third – he could have blocked Stradivarius at one stage too which make the margins even more interesting.

Earlier Marbaar 14/1 by Oasis Dream won the Vintage for Charlie Fellowes and Jamie Spencer, beating the fav Halloway Bay by ½ length and then Mysterious Night was back a bit in third.

The Lennox saw Andrew Balding's Sandrine win at 12/1 with David Proberts in the irons by a neck from Kinross 12/1 with Pogo third and favourite Sacred fifth but there wasn't too big a distance between all top 5 finishers.

Wednesday means it is Sussex Stakes G1 day and there will just be 7 runners lining up for this 1600m contest and they all have a chance although Baaeed is big odds-on and has been set for this.  Alcohol Free recently won the July Stakes and this is up in trip but he should be able to manage at and is on 9/1.  Modern Games and Order of Australia are on 16/1 and do not ignore Bathrat Leon the Japanese raider who won the Godolphin Mile at Meydan.

The two earlier G3s are the Oak Tree and the Molecomb.  The former is over 1400m for f&m and Heredia, a 3yo filly from Richard Hannon's yard is on 9/2.  Godolphin (Saeed bi Suroor) has Soft Whisper on 5/1 and Oscula who came second on Saturday at Ascot is on 11/1 – you would certainly feed her as her record is 2-1-2-3-2 for her last 5 starts.  The Molecomb is over 1000m for the 2yos and Rocket Rodney has been living up to his name so far and is on 10/11 with Walbank who impressed at Ascot on 10/3.  Eddie's Boy is 13/2 for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle and is by Havana Grey whose progeny are doing very well.
