Favourites in form at Doncaster Day 1

The going was soft but that didn't upset either winner of the G2s on opening day.

Darnation lived up to the hype and dashed away in fine form to win by 3 lengths and give Karl Burke another 2yo winner.  Clif Lee had the ride on the daughter of Too Darn Hot and was impressed with the filly.  See the Fire was second on 4/1 and Les Bleus third.

And Sumo Sam won the Par Hill with the daughter of Nathaniel making the best of her 3yo weight allowance.  One Evening was second on 12/1 and Lmay third at 22/1.

Friday still has the going as soft although if the weather is more sunny than not it may change the reading through the day.  There are two more G2s on the card – the Flying Childers and the Doncaster Cup at opposite ends of the distance scale.

The Flying Childers is over 1000m for the 2yos and has 12 runners with the market optimistic that Big Evs will have better luck against his own age group so he's got a quote of 7/2.  Kylian is another Karl Burke 2yo and is on 4/1, Inquisitively 11/2 and our roughie here is Toca Madera on 16/1.

The Doncaster Cup is over 3600m and that trip has only attracted 5 starters led by last year's winner Coltrane from Andrew Balding's yard with Oisin Murphy in the irons.  Trueshan. Is back from wind surgery and Alan King has Hollie Doyle, his usual partner, on board. They are on 3/1.  And we always have to make a pitch for our old friend Broome who should love the distance and is on 8/1.
