The Panasonic Cup at Sha Tin was marred by the fatal accident to Tuchel.

Nearing the 100m mark Tuchel broke down and was subsequently euthanased.

Jockey Hugh Bowman who had just resumed riding duties following suspension was taken to hospital with "some fractures" but otherwise OK according to the jockey. 

Keith Yeung was dislodged from Find My Love and in a moment stole everyone's hearts by running over to the injured Tuchel and just holding him and giving him a farewell hug.  He was able to continue with his rides for the rest of the day although confessed to being sore afterwards.

Sauvestre, who was not involved in the accident, went on to win with Red Lion second and Dancing Code third.

Tuchel was a 5yo gelding bred in New Zealand who arrived in Hong Kong in January 2022.

He was by Redwood out of a Testa Rossa mare and was a promising horse who had one HK$18,661,250.  He did have a lameness last October in the right hind leg but had recovered from that and the problem on Saturday involved the two front legs.
