So Si Bon (Trial 2): As a last start Group 1 placegetter, So Si Bon had a clear edge on paper and it proved that way on the track with the flashy son of So You Think easily winning his 1190m trial. Slightly slow into stride, the stallion settled near the rear of the 11-horse field before working forwards mid-trial. Stalking the leaders on the turn, So Si Bon quickly took the lead under hands and heels and dashed away when given a single crack with the whip. He was eased down late to win by 3.5 lengths in 1.12.26, the fastest of the morning. Third in the Rupert Clarke last start, So Si Bon is an entrant in the Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley this Saturday.

Cleo's Poet (Trial 7): The unraced three-year-old was stepping out for his fifth trial but the penny may be starting to drop with him now. Cleo’s Poet showed gate speed to lead under a good hold, lengthening stride when asked for an effort and racing away to win by four lengths. He clocked 47.86, one of the fastest of the morning over 800m and the Doug Harrison-trained gelding may find a maiden to suit in the coming weeks.

Falcool (Trial 10): The quickest of the 800m heats went to the talented gelding Falcool, who is on his way to back to the races having last competed in May. He kicked off that campaign with a win in the Listed Moomba Plate and he may be set to race well fresh again judging by his slick hitout. Settling on pace in the small filed, Falcool took the lead early in the straight and broke clear of his rivals despite never having the brakes released. He could find a suitable sprint race during the latter stages of the spring carnival.

Hoagland (Trial 20): The Aaron Purcell trained three-year-old was making his first public appearance and made a good impression when bolting home in his 990m trial. The son of Poet’s Voice found the front early in his heat and travelled comfortably to the home turn. Asked for an effort in the straight, he raced away to score by seven lengths in a slick 59.97. Hoagland was given a good hitout so will have taken benefit from the outing and that could have well placed to make a winning debut in the coming weeks.
