Crunch time as Premier League reaches final weeks

With just five weeks remaining in the Premier League Darts regular season, it appears that - barring anything drastic - the play-off line-up will include Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.

The talented trio have won nine of the 11 nights between them to date, with Littler top of the table on 26 points, Humphries two points behind on 24 and 'MVG' a further two points back on 22.

The final spot in the play-offs will likely go to either Nathan Aspinall or Michael Smith who sit on 18 and 17 points respectively, with Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright needing to produce a spectacular end to the season to reach the season closer in London.

Night 12 offers several sensational match-ups, with 'Cool Hand Luke' against 'MVG' the headliner. The defending world champion takes on the defending Premier League champion for the third time this campaign.

Van Gerwen claimed the first victory of the season in the Night Three final, with Humphries gaining a measure of revenge in a Night Five quarter-final. Humphries edges the statistical analysis with a higher average (101.32-98.08), more 180s (74-56) and a higher percentage of legs won against throw (45.19-36.36%).

'MVG' boasts a better checkout percentage (44.89-43.89%), but the form Humphries has showcased over the last 12 months edges favouritism in his direction, he is priced at 8/13 to earn the match victory, with Van Gerwen 6/5. A punt on the match to go the distance (11 legs) may also be backable (11/4).

The winner will take on either Nathan Aspinall or Peter Wright in the semi-final. Wright has had a torrid campaign winning just two matches, but has been much more competitive in recent weeks. Meanwhile, 'The Asp' has regularly progressed to at least the semi-finals.

The pair sit bottom of the averages, checkout percentages and against throw averages, but the Englishman seems to have a knack of earning the victories in the tournament this season. An 8/15 price is not to be sniffed at.

The top quarter of the draw sees Luke Littler take on Michael Smith while Rob Cross duels with Gerwyn Price. Littler's impressive eight match winning run was ended in last week's final by Van Gerwen, while Smith has been there or thereabouts all season.

The duo have met on four occasions so far with Smith dominating the series 3-1 in matches and 20-18 in legs. With 'Bully Boy' showcasing success against The Nuke, a 13/8 price on victory is certainly worth a look.

Price, meanwhile, is 4/7 to topple Cross – both meetings this season were extremely one-sided – 'The Iceman' winning a Night One clash 6-2 with 'Voltage' earning a 6-1 win on Night Five. Under 9.5 legs is priced at 8/11.

Best bets – Treble (16/1)

· Luke Humpries v Michael van Gerwen Over 10.5 legs – 11/4

· Michael Smith to beat Luke Littler – 13/8

· Gerwyn Price v Rob Cross Under 9.5 legs – 8/11
