The top 35 horses in the Melbourne Cup Order Of Entry will undergo vet inspections on Thursday.

Racing Victoria Stewards have already visited Team Williams at Mt Macedon and have further appointments at Werribee, Caulfield and Flemington throughout the course of Thursday.

“We owe it to the VRC to try and make sure there is a capacity field of 24 come Tuesday,” Racing Victoria’s Chief Steward Terry Bailey said.

“We’ve found this process puts us in a better position before the barrier draw on Saturday night.”

My Ambivalent will be inspected on Thursday afternoon after the Roger Varian-trained mare pulled up lame following trackwork at Werribee last Thursday.
