The impressive trial win by classy five-year-old Vashka at Warwick Farm on Monday was only a preview of what’s to come from the Godolphin stable at Randwick on Friday.

Vashka was among 18 Godolphin-owned horses to trial for O’Shea on Monday but the stable goes up another gear on Friday with 23 entered for the Randwick trials.

Friday’s team is led by several noted Group performers including the G1 winners Hartnell and Magic Hurricane.

Exciting staying prospect Tally, not seen since his third in the ATC Derby in April, quality sprinter Generalife and the talented winners Calliope, Shards, Chetwood, Maternal and Shoepeg are also among the team O’Shea is sending to Randwick.

After some strong results at Warwick Farm on Monday, Friday’s trials should underline O’Shea’s intention to start the new season with a pumped up team of talented performers.

O’Shea was pleased with his results on Monday and plans to trial the majority of those horses again at Randwick on August 9 before they resume.

“Overall it was a good morning. All the horses seemed to be good in their action – there wasn’t one I came away with being disappointed,” he said.

The Group 2 winner Vashka was the star on Monday in his second trial since his successive win in the G2 Shanon Stakes at Rosehill and G3 Moonga Stakes at Caulfield last spring.

Vashka won a trial at Rosehil in January but then suffered a training setback and missed the autumn carnival.

On Monday he cruised through his heat over 807m under a big hold from Brenton Avdulla to win by a soft 1.25 lengths and looks to be in the right form to build on his impressive record of eight wins in 16 starts.

O’Shea was also pleased with Monday’s trials by the import Arab Dawn, G2 winner Pearls and the stakeswinner Haptic and has the trio slated to trial again on August 9.

Arab Dawn won the Parramatta Cup at Rosehill at his second Australian start in February and O’Shea expects him to train on next season.
