A host of Darren Weir’s stable stars are already on their way to new trainers as the fallout from the jigger scandal continues to grow.
New trainers have already been named for the Group One winners Brave Smash, Extra Brut and Amphitrite as well as brilliant sprinter Nature Strip and classy stayer Night’s Watch.
Trainers named by owners to receive horses from the Weir stable include Chris Waller, Ciaron Maher, Kris Lees, Patrick Payne, Archie Alexander and the Lindsay Park stable.
Warrnambool trainer Jarrod McLean, also embroiled in the scandal with Weir, has also lost his G1 winner Trap For Fools to the Robert Hickmott stable.Nature Strip, scratched by order of the stewards from the Caulfield meeting on Saturday after show cause notices were issued to Weir and McLean on Friday, will be transferred to Chris Waller.
Waller will also take over as the trainer of Weir’s Golden Slipper Stakes candidate Yes Yes Yes.The following transfers were confirmed by the owners of the following horses after Weir and McLean were charged with a range of serious rule breaches by Racing Victoria stewards on Friday.
