Jason Benbow was approached by local horseman Travis Doudle about the opportunity of becoming his stable rider and Benbow said the time was right to consider a move interstate.

"Travis sent me a text message asking whether I'd be interested in heading over for a stint,'' Benbow said.

"Victoria is quite competitive, I've got a young family and I thought the time might be right to give it a go,'' he said.

Benbow said a decision on a permanent move would all come down to success.

"I'm going to be guided by performance,'' Benbow said.

"I'm here to three to six weeks, that gives me a foundation going into the new season,'' he said.

Benbow has ridden more than 750 winners with his Group 1 breakthrough coming aboard Sky Cuddle in 2004 Emirates Stakes.

Saturday's meeting at Morphettville sees Benbow engaged in all nine races, including five chances for the Travis Doudle stable.
