Exciting South Australian sprinter Extremely Lucky will kick off an ambitious spring campaign in Saturday’s $107,250 Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville.

The Will Clarken-trained three-year-old was luckless in the Group 2 Tobin Bronze behind Seradess at Morphettville back in May before he bolted in winning by four lengths on Goodwood Day with Jamie Kah in the saddle.

Clarken has a massive opinion of the son of Extreme Choice but knows if the horse is going to get to some Group 1 races in Melbourne during the spring the horse will have to ramp up his rating.

"He had a nice hit out between races the other day and another good gallop alongside Zoulah this morning,'' Clarken said.

"The horse is in good order, the reservation I have is he's going into this weekend 20 kilograms heavier than when he was last at the races,'' he said.

Clarken plans to keep the horse fresh before heading interstate for a race at Caulfield with the Group 1 Moir Stakes over 1000m at Moonee Valley on September 23 a target, the table also hoping to secure a start in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate eve.

"There is no doubt on the figures and what he has done at home he's a horse with a lot of ability and upside,'' Clarken said.

"Saturday's race looks like there are four of five winning hopes,'' he said.

Godolphin will bring Group 2 Danehill Stakes winner Kallos to Adelaide with Kayla Crowther booked to ride while Chain Of Lightning is also among nominations for the Peter Moody stable.

The unbeaten Chain Of Lightning was set to run favourite at Caulfield last weekend before he broke through the barriers and was a late scratching.

John Maloney's talented filly Scorched Earth is also set to resume in the Adelaide feature alongside the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Royal Dress who is owned by Coolmore Stud.
