Rain in the north-east of Victoria has resulted in Racing Victoria rescheduling the Wangaratta race meeting set down for Friday.

Following an RV Stewards inspection on Thursday, the meeting has been postponed and moved to Monday.

On inspecting the Wangaratta track on Thursday, Stewards found surface water on parts of the course and deemed it would not be suitable for racing on.

The Wangaratta track had received 25mm of rain on Wednesday night, taking the total rainfall in the past 48 hours to 40mm.

A further 13mm was predicted for the remainder of Thursday and up to 10mm on Friday.

Stewards determined the track would not dry out sufficiently in time for Friday's meeting.

With no appropriate transfer locations due to the wet weather and meetings already scheduled in the north-east of Victoria, the decision was made to postpone the date until Monday in order to give the track every opportunity to dry out.

Racing will not be lost in Victoria on Friday though with a meeting to be held on the synthetic track at Ballarat.

The transfer of the Wangaratta meeting means there will now be two meetings in Victoria on Monday with racing also scheduled for the Pakenham synthetic track.
