2022 SILVER SHADOW STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Silver Shadow Stakes is a Group 2 race run under Set Weights and Penalty conditions for three year old fillies at Randwick conducted by the Australian Turf Club.

The Silver Shadow Stakes is run over 1200m. It's mainly been run at Warwick Farm but the last few runnings and occasionally in the past it has been at Randwick.

It was first run in 1980 and was won by Moabite.

The Silver Shadow Stakes has swapped between a Group 2 and Group 3 race but is G2 now.

Many future G1 winners, both in three year old class, three year old fillies class and open class, have won this race.

The Silver Shadow Stakes is the first of the fillies Princess Series in Sydney's Spring after which the Furious Stakes, Tea Rose Stakes and Flight Stakes follow.

Flight Stakes winners to win the Silver Shadow Stakes include Speak Fondly, Samantha Miss, Ha Ha, Angst, Triscay.

The 2007 race was not held due to the Equine Influenza break out.

The 2022 Silver Shadow Stakes was run for prizemoney of $250,000.
