Group 1 winner ready to take Flight

An improved showing is expected from She’s Extreme in the Flight Stakes.

Nuances and nuisances proved costly for She's Extreme in the Golden Rose but trainer Anthony Cummings is predicting a bounce back from the Group 1 winner in the Flight Stakes at Randwick.

Cummings felt the filly had genuine excuses when a sound but unspectacular sixth to Jacquinot in last Saturday's feature after settling close to a stronger-than-anticipated speed and being annoyed by rival Daumier, who was over-racing on her outside.

"He was erratic and a bit keen and kept running into her and she got a bit aggressive," Cummings said.

"She just didn't get into a rhythm, so she didn't have a base to accelerate from and it made her look a bit dour at the finish.

"Going to a mile is something that's quite comfortable for her….and having had that run, the improvement that comes naturally from racing will see her competitive on Saturday.

"She is proven at the trip and at this level so she should be hard to beat."

A field of 10 accepted for the Flight Stakes (1600m) on Wednesday with Golden Slipper winner Fireburn and Chris Waller's Silver Shadow and Tea Rose Stakes winner Zougotcha sharing favouritism at $3.

She's Extreme and former New Zealander Wolverine are the only other runners under double-figure odds at $6.50 apiece.

Like punters, Cummings concedes the two top fancies shape as the hardest to beat.

"Winning form is good form and the filly of Waller's has that, and the best run out of the Golden Rose was probably Fireburn," Cummings said.

"You'd have to say they are the horses that are going to be the test for the weekend."

Cummings confirmed She's Extreme would progress to next month's Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) provided she came through Saturday's race in good order.
