Kennedy is hoping to be back in action towards the end of next week so that he can be Gordon Elliott's top rider at Cheltenham. In early January, Kennedy fractured his tibia and fibula in a fall off Top Bandit in a novice chase at Naas. It was the fifth time he has broken his leg.

Elliott remains hopeful that Kennedy will find out on Friday that he is fit, so that Kennedy can join his A-team for the Cheltenham Festival. Elliott has said that, if Kennedy is not fit, then he has a great team of jockeys, including Davy Russell, Jordan Gainford, and Sam Ewing, to call upon.

Elliott has spoken to Kennedy and praised him saying, "He's just something special and he's only 23 years of age. I'm 100 percent behind him." Elliott has said that Kennedy will need to have ridden before the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle, in which he was initially set to ride Doctor Bravo, if he is to be his top rider at Cheltenham.

Davy Russell, who took a dramatic U-turn out of retirement following Kennedy's injury in January, has not ridden since finishing third on Deeply Superficial at Sandown 11 days ago. Elliott is not too concerned by his absence and very much wants him on his festival team, citing the wealth of experience he brings.

Kennedy has already ridden a staggering 36 Grade 1 winners, and he is hoping that the answer will be yes on Friday and that he can add to that tally at the Cheltenham Festival.
