Saturday at Morphettville was a day to remember for Warrnambool trainer Patrick Ryan Jnr.

The Victorian horseman travelled three horses over the border and walked away with a winning treble, a first for his boutique stable.

"It's my first treble,'' Patrick Ryan Jnr said.

"It would only be a handful of times I've had more than three runners at a meeting.

"We knew the horses were fit and well,'' he said.

Ryan's day started with a surprise when Laelaps caused a massive upset scoring at $101 before talented stayer Ferago justified his solid support in betting and scored a dominant staying victory, a win Ryan hopes can launch the horse to better races.

"I think he's a bit special,'' Ryan said.

"I think he's a Geelong Cup type horse, he's got such a tank,'' he said.

The day completed when Rivkin defied Cold Case and Siyata late in the day, the trio ridden by Harry Grace.

Free Beer was the first big result of the day winning at $61 for trainer Justin Pickering, rider Jacob Opperman claiming a race to race double when the Jeff Searle-trained Chipson scored a narrow victory.

AND at Port Augusta on Sunday Sairyn Fawke had a massive day winning three races including the feature Squatters Cup aboard Shiny Rock for Garret Lynch.
