Old Time Rock comes off consecutive seconds on his home track behind My Ruby and Victorian galloper Wolflands which prompted Andrew Clarken to look interstate in search of a suitable race.

"There isn't a lot for him here in SA so I thought the Valley and that race suited,'' Clarken said.

"In saying that I would have liked a slightly better draw,'' he said.

Clarken is hoping the booking of top jockey Blake Shinn for the six-year-old can offset barrier nine.

"I know Blake's manager Liam Prior well through my association with the Chris Waller stable,'' Clarken said.

"His last run in 86 grade was pretty solid drawing a line through Wolflands, who is very competitive over in Melbourne. If he gets the right run, he should be in the finish,'' he said.
