Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United will meet at Ewood Park with a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals up for grabs (1945 GMT).

Blackburn Rovers edged out Newcastle United to claim second place in the Premier League in the 1993/94 season but fell short of catching title winners Man Utd.

Rovers topped the league just a year later while the Magpies fell to a disappointing sixth-place finish. Both sides have been on quite the journey since.

The hosts recently parted ways with Jon Dahl Tomasson and appointed ex-Brum boss John Eustace, which wasn't greeted with widespread joy.

Rovers are winless in his first four matches and threw away a 2-0 lead against rivals Preston, but they are starting to look a bit more structured at the back.

Newcastle's five-match unbeaten run was shattered at the Emirates Stadium where they lost 4-1 to Arsenal. Eddie Howe's side were never in the contest and will be keen to bounce back.

The Toon have used their FA Cup run, coupled with improving help, to help turn their previously dire form around.

They've breezed past local rivals Sunderland and Fulham in the previous rounds, producing solid 3-0 and 2-0 wins respectively, and they'll expect to match that here.

What sort of game this is depends very much on the hosts. We've seen an expansive, risky brand of football from Rovers this season. It's led to mixed results, but there are usually goals.

They may just be transitioning under Eustace but it makes sense to have a pop at their Premier League opponents on Tuesday.
