CAULFIELD

The Sharp EIT All-Star Mile

(WFA - 1600m)

Race Result:

1st: Pride Of Jenni (C Maher/D Bates) - $3.90
2nd: Mr Brightside (B, W & J Hayes/C Williams) - $2F
3rd: Cascadian (J Cummings/B Melham) - $9.50

Winning Time: 1:35.22 Last 600m: NA

Margins: 2L x 1L

Beaten jockey comments:

Craig Williams (Mr Brightside): "It's a shame but don't take anything away from the winner, she was very good and very dominant. My horse, he was huge. We didn't have the best barrier draw and under those circumstances…you see how far he stood them up and for him to only be beaten the margin he was beaten in the end, he went super. If the plan is to go to the Australian Cup I'm looking forward to him at 10 furlongs, that's for sure."

Ben Melham (Cascadian): "I thought he ran super. He's right on track for an Australian Cup. Probably where he got beat was the first two furlongs, they were a bit sedate, probably a bit more sedate than everyone anticipated and then they cranked from there. He was a long way off them, he got a good run through them and got beat a similar margin to Mr Brightside as what he did in the race last year."

Linda Meech (Attractable): "I think she broke his heart."

Mark Zahra (Munhamek): "He ran as good as he could. Good job to run fifth."

Damian Lane (Dom To Shoot): "He ran super. I was caught covering ground in what was obviously a solid-run race, he had to do a lot of work between the 800 and the 400, so he stuck on well. He tried hard."

Celine Gaudray (Buffalo River): "Terrific run. He's such a brave, honest horse."

Ben Allen (Pinstriped): "Just no luck. I don't know how much that cost him at the start but he still needed that run."

Vin Colgan (Desert Lightning): "A little bit out of his character but the speed was hot and he found the race a little bit too quick. He was flat from the half-mile onwards and held his ground in the straight and that was about it."

Jamie Kah (Ayrton): "He's run enormous, just not the place we wanted to be. Didn't have horses that were travelling to follow into the race, but he's run well."

Craig Grylls (Puntura): "He began well, end up in a nice enough spot, but down the side when they really put the pace on he was out on his feet then and didn't really finish it off."

Blake Shinn (Holymanz): "He acquitted himself well, ran a great race against the best around and I thought he did a great job."

ROSEHILL

Group 1 - Coolmore Classic

(3yo+ F&M Quality - 1500m)

Race Result:

1st: Zougotcha (C Waller/J McDonald) - $3.30F
2nd: Semana (C Maher/D Gibbons) - $12
3rd: Kimochi (G Portelli/Z Lloyd) - $11

Winning Time: 1:29.12 Last 600m: 34.79

Margins: Short Neck x ½Head

Beaten jockey comments:

Michael Dee (Revolutionary Miss): "She jumped really well. Didn't want to be outside leader. She tried hard. Not to be today."

Dylan Gibbons (Semana): "Tremendous effort. I went to get on Kimochi's back but the inside horse clattered into my face. Probably needed that cart up. Has gone down fighting."

Kerrin McEvoy (Vienna Princess): "She ran well. Got shuffled back a little bit. Top of the ground probably suits her better."

Tommy Berry (Hinged): "She has run enormous. Just got barged off the track coming to the corner. Not sure why but it happened. It took her confidence away from her. She was very strong late though."

Tim Clark (Tropical Squall): "Really brave performance from her. A 3yo filly taking on the older mares with a bit of weight. An excellent effort."

Tom Sherry (Deny Knowledge): "Landed in a good position. Failed to quicken on that ground. Wasn't overly comfortable."

Billy Egan (Foxy Frida): "She didn't disgrace herself. This company just needs to draw low and have a softer run."

Jason Collett (Madame Pommery): "The gate made it difficult."

Rachel King (Renaissance Woman): "She has run a super race. Didn't go nearly as quickly as I thought they might. She has sprinted home really well."

John Allen (Yonce): "She ran OK. Hoping to step a little better and more forward. A couple a little more sharp for her."

Matthew Cartwright (Barbie's Fox): "Disappointing. The horse is better than that. Did make a bit of a noise pulling up. A tongue tie may help. Race wasn't run to suit."

Tyler Schiller (Hell Hath No Fury): "I thought she was very honest. Probably stepping up to the top of her grade today. She has earned herself a break and will come back better."

Jay Ford (More Secrets): "Track wasn't too her liking."

Craig Newitt (Jennilala): "She ran well. She wasn't beaten far. Just think these sort of races might be six months too advanced for her. She will have her day."

Zac Lloyd (Kimochi): "Extremely frustrating. If she draws a barrier she wins simple as that. She's a very good filly. Had to do it the hard way. Just annoying to get a barrier like that on a big day."

Reece Jones (Barby's Doll): "Obviously the toughest performance yet but she didn't disgrace herself."

Group 2 - Chandon Phar Lap Stakes

(3yo SW - 1500m)

Race Result:

1st: Zardozi (J Cummings/T Marquand) - $13
2nd: Makarena (M,W & J Hawkes/T Clark) - $4
3rd: Kintyre (G Portelli/J Collett) - $6.50

Winning Time: 1:28.88 Last 600m: 35.30

Margins: 2L x Nose

Beaten jockey comments:

Regan Bayliss (Raf Attack): "He was a little bit disappointing overall."

Adam Hyeronimus (Les Vampires): "He went great. Just had to roll all the way down the back. Probably took it out of him late. He's probably not strong enough physically to handle it at the moment."

Josh Parr (Tannhauser): "I was really pleased with his closing sectionals. Was a little bit patchy throughout. If he can put it all together 100% of the race, he'll be a good show."

Nash Rawiller (Heman): "He ran an encouraging race. Just off the bridle, he didn't handle those conditions."

James McDonald (Saltcoats): "He was a bit disappointing."

Jason Collett (Kintyre): "Ran really well. Dragged back around the turn but hit the line well."

John Allen (Our Couver): "He was OK for something a little easier."

Tommy Berry (Ravello): "A bit disappointing today."

Jay Ford (Noisy Boy): "Really good. He stayed the trip nicely and will go up to the Tulloch now."

Tim Clark (Makarena): "She was very honest as she's been all preparation."

Group 2 - ATC Foundation Ajax Stakes

(3yo+ Quality - 1500m)

Race Result:

1st: Democracy Manifest (C Waller/J McDonald) - $6
2nd: Territory Express (P Niceforo/Z Lloyd) - $17
3rd: Detonator Jack (C Maher/J Collett) - $6

Winning Time: 1:28.39 Last 600m: 34.55

Margins: Nose x ½L

Beaten jockey comments:

Jason Collett (Detonator Jack): "Great return."

Tom Sherry (Phearson): "Just pulled too hard within himself."

Tommy Berry (Bold Mac): "Great run. The blinkers really switched him on. Had the back of the winner. Just sprinted too quick for me at the top of the straight. Loved him late."

Michael Dee (Just Folk): "Good run. Probably needed it. He'll improve."

Adam Hyeronimus (Palmetto): No comment

Kerrin McEvoy (Welwal): "Didn't settle as well as I would have liked and that told on his finish."

Tom Marquand (Hezashocka): "First run back in the prep. Loved the way he towed down into the last furlong and a half. The speedy horses just kicked and levelled off wanting further again."

Chad Schofield (Caesars Palace): "Poor performance. Tailed off."

Dylan Gibbons (Glory Daze): "Disappointing on face value. See how he pulls up."

Tyler Schiller (Robusto): "I thought he was great stepping up to that grade. He was very tough. I thought he nearly had it in his grasp at the 300m but was just found wanting when the others had a bit of toughness late."

Rachel King (Amor Victorious): "Raced a little bit flat today."

Zac Lloyd (Territory Express): No comment

Group 3 - TAB Pago Pago Stakes

(2yo C&G SW - 1200m)

Race Result:

1st: Dublin Down (T & C McEvoy/T Clark) - $20
2nd: Anode (G Waterhouse & A Bott/A Hyeronimus) - $8.50
3rd: Coleman (M Laurie/T Schiller) - $5.50

Winning Time: 1:10.55 Last 600m: 34.37

Margins: Long Neck x 1¾L

Beaten jockey comments:

Tyler Schiller (Coleman): "I thought he did a great job. He relaxed well but probably didn't handle the track around the corner. But I thought once he balanced up in the straight he was very good."

Kerrin McEvoy (Parkour): "I thought he ran well. He had blinkers on and it just sharpened him a little bit. I think essentially the stable are planning to get him out to 1400m in the Baillieu which might be a nice option."

Adam Hyeronimus (Anode): "A beautiful colt. A good run. Just needs seven furlongs."

Tom Sherry (King Of Roseau): "He ran honestly. Might have come to the end of the prep."

Jason Collett (Duvana): "Had to give away cheap lengths early to come back and get cover. Just felt it was difficult to get into the race."

James McDonald (Gatsby's): "He ran well. Just a little bit immature and it might have just caught up a little bit quick with him. He will make the grade."

Regan Bayliss (Johnny The Kid): "He'll make a nice horse."

Josh Parr (Agenda Setter): "Disappointing effort. He settled back in a fast run race and wasn't able to build and show a turn of foot."

Reece Jones (Glorious Moments): No comment

Sam Clipperton (The Three Hundred): "He's a nice enough horse. All just come a bit soon for him."

Group 3 - Cincotta Chemist Magic Night Stakes

(2yo F SW - 1200m)

Race Result:

1st: Drifting (P&P Snowden/T Sherry) - $4.20
2nd: Fly Fly (M, W & J Hawkes/J Collett) - $3F
3rd: Chateau Miraval (G Waterhouse & A Bott/T Clark) - $7.50

Winning Time: 1:10.76 Last 600m: 34.68

Margins: 1¼L x Short Head

Beaten jockey comments:

Zac Lloyd (Castanya): "A bit unfortunate. Obviously she hasn't had the ideal lead up for this race and the track is too wet for her. She never got comfortable up the straight. Think you will see a good horse next prep."

Jason Collett (Fly Fly): "She loomed up to put them away but just had to make too long a run."

Tim Clark (Chateau Miraval): "She ran really well."

Dylan Gibbons (Totoka): "She is wanting further but I think she has just come to the end of it as well."

Regan Bayliss (Southern Charm): "She was OK."

James McDonald (She Smashes): "Really nice filly. Did a good job today."

Rachel King (Valabing): "Just running on her nerves at the moment. Might just need a break."

Tom Marquand (Itszarbaby): "Travelled up well on the inside. Just that inexperience told in the last couple of furlongs."
