Ben, Will and J D Hayes won't mind seeing the Pride Of Jenni colours carried across the line in first place in a Stakes race at Moonee Valley

The Lindsay Park trainers prepare Sassy Jenni for Tony Ottobre, and she is one of two runners the Hayes boys have running in the Listed Xtreme Freight Valley Pearl (1200m) on Saturday.

Sassy Jenni will be joined by Harpalee in the two-year-old contest.

Last week at Caulfield in the All-Star Mile, the Ottobre colours were worn to victory by Pride Of Jenni, relegating the Hayes' galloper Mr Brightside into second place.

While disappointed to be beaten, Ben Hayes said the team was happy Ottobre's mare had won.

"Tony has a lot in work with us as well, so we're happy for him winning last week," Hayes said.

"Some people have a big involvement in racing and when they have success, you have to be happy for them."

Sassy Jenni has raced just once, winning at The Valley on March 1 over 1200m.

"She was very brave that day, she rolled forward and was strong through the line," Hayes said.

"I think she deserves a shot at Black Type.

"We've drawn barrier six and Ciaron (Maher) has one (Spywire) that has good speed and that is drawn inside us.

"Her training at home has been very good and I expect her to be competitive."

Hayes said the stable had high expectations of Harpalee and threw the filly into a Stakes race on debut during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

After finishing last, the filly was tipped out for a spell, returning to win a maiden at Ballarat first-up on March 11.

"I thought early days she was one of our better two-year-old, hence why we ran her in a Stakes race at her first start," Hayes said.

"She got it wrong on debut but atoned last start to start off the prep impressively, so she deserves another shot back in the deep end."
