Newcastle v Everton tips: Magpies to win again

Newcastle United are back in town on Tuesday night as they host Everton in a pivotal clash at both ends of the table.

Both of these sides were at differing sides of last-minute drama on Easter Saturday, as super sub Harvey Barnes inspired Newcastle to come back from 3-1 down to beat West Ham 4-3, while a Seamus Coleman own goal in the 91st minute compounded Everton to defeat at Bournemouth.

The Magpies have been arguably the most entertaining side in the league in recent weeks, with Saturday's breathtaking encounter with West Ham epitomising their season, an electric attacking performance paired with some poor defending and injuries galore.

However, the Toffees, who beat Newcastle 3-0 in the reverse at Goodison Park, have been woeful since the turn of the year as they have not won a league game since December 16, when they beat fellow strugglers Burnley 2-0.

Everton's recent record against the Magpies has been poor, losing five of their last seven including their last three at St. James' Park.

However, the shot-shy Toffees will be buoyed by Newcastle's defensive woes, with the Magpie's defence leaking goals recently, conceding at least twice in six of their last seven league games and that is likely to continue with both Sven Botman and club captain Jamaal Lascelles suffering ACL injuries.

Everton are the second lowest scorers in the league but are guaranteed to get chances against a makeshift Newcastle defence, who have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 league games so both teams to score looks a good option.

While Everton's attacking struggles have been well documented, they have been solid at the back as only four teams have conceded fewer goals than their tally of 41.

Nevertheless, they will have to deal with the in-form Alexander Isak, who has scored seven in his last eight league games and nine of his 14 league goals this season have come at home.

The Toffees will give the Magpies a different sort of test to the one they got from West Ham, but you'd expect the Magpies to get their 10th home win of the season against an out-of-form Everton side and a 3-1 correct score is the way to go.

Suggested bets:

Newcastle 3-1 correct score

Alexander Isak to score in 90 mins

Everton under 1.5 goals
