Real Madrid vs Man City tips: Real to edge goal-fest

Arguably the two strongest forces in world football meet on Tuesday night as Real Madrid take on Man City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final (2000 BST).

Santiago Bernabeu will set the stage as the defending European champions pay a visit to the 14-time continental kings.

One of the biggest fixtures in club football comes with big expectations and based on previous meetings, we could be in for another classic.

Over the last four years, these giants have met on six occasions. During this time, there have been a total of 23 goals.

Four of those goals were scored in the previous encounter as Man City demolished Los Blancos 4-0 to book their spot in the Champions League final last season.

However, things aren't quite the same as we head into this latest clash. Pep Guardiola's men are still a major force, though they aren't perhaps as strong as they were last season.

One area of concern for City is their defence, which has kept just two clean sheets in their last seven matches.

Last weekend, the Citizens conceded twice against Crystal Palace – a clear worry as they prepare to take on Real Madrid's fearsome attack.

Speaking of the Spanish giants, they will enter this encounter relatively refreshed.

While City have already played two matches this month, Real have been out of action since March 31 when they beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0.

Bearing in mind home comforts and their light schedule, we're backing the Spanish outfit to make a strong start to this quarter-final.

Real Madrid to win and both teams to score is the way to go. One goal winning margin is another bet which offers good value.

Team news

Real Madrid will be without David Alaba and Thibaut Courtois for Tuesday's encounter.

Man City, meanwhile, will be missing Nathan Ake, Kyle Walker and potentially Josko Gvardiol.
