Arsenal vs Chelsea tips: Gunners to extend lead at the top

Arsenal cannot afford to slip up as the title race speeds towards its climax when they face London rivals Chelsea on Tuesday night (2000 BST).

Arsenal recovered from their disappointing week that saw them exit the Champions League and lose at home to Aston Villa, with a 2-0 win at Wolves on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta's Gunners know that they can't afford to slip up in this match as that would almost crush their hopes of a first Premier League title since 2004, with Liverpool and Manchester City breathing down their necks and the reigning champions have a precious game in hand too.

Chelsea rock into town after their hopes of ending the season with silverware were crushed by Bernardo Silva and Man City in the FA Cup semi-final.

It will be interesting to see how Mauricio Pochettino's young side cope with that setback, given that questions were raised about their team ethic following an argument over a penalty in the 6-0 win against Everton last week.

They still have a chance to salvage the season with European qualification as they are only three points behind sixth-placed Newcastle with a game in hand.

Cole Palmer, who took the aforementioned penalty, has been on fire for the Blues recently and finds himself level with Erling Haaland on 20 goals in the race for the Golden Boot.

However, the former Man City man is a doubt for the Blues as he missed training on Monday with an illness.

If Palmer is absent then the question regarding where the goals will come from will arise given that the 21-year-old has been involved in 47.5% of Chelsea's Premier League goals this season.

Chelsea have scored in 15 consecutive league games and we expect that streak to continue either way.

Arsenal have been in good form in front of goal themselves this season, with their tally of 77 league goals being the best in the league, so there should be plenty of value in the goals market.

Despite going off the boil in recent weeks, Bukayo Saka has still had an excellent season with 22 goal involvements to his name and you can't keep Arsenal's number seven quiet for too long, so we're backing him to get on the scoresheet here against a Blues defence that haven't kept a Premier League clean sheet on the road since October.

Chelsea have improved in recent weeks and have gone eight league games without defeat, but they will be coming up against the meanest defence in the country, with the Gunners' tally of 15 clean sheets being a league high.

Arsenal will be desperate to put memories of last year's title collapse to the back of their minds and we think that they will grab a comfortable win in a goal fest at the Emirates.
