Australia coach Brian Goorjian says Thon Maker will be a major asset for the Boomers' World Cup qualifiers against Japan, Taiwan and China.
Thon Maker and Matthew Dellavedova will headline a Boomers squad featuring six debutants for Australia's upcoming World Cup qualifiers in Melbourne.
Dellavedova is the only member of Australia's bronze medal-winning squad from the Tokyo Olympics who has backed up for the qualifiers against Japan, Taiwan and China, starting on June 30.
Maker's stint in the green and gold will forever be remembered for his involvement in the infamous brawl against the Philippines in 2018.
The 25-year-old is keen to use his upcoming stint with the Boomers to attract the attention of NBA scouts.
Maker made 22 appearances for the Long Island Nets to end the 2021-22 G League season and is now on the lookout for a fourth NBA club following stints with Milwaukee, Detroit and Cleveland.
Australia's NBA stars will miss the qualifiers, but some are planning on coming to Melbourne to watch the Boomers close up.
Dellavedova has been working out in the US during the off-season, but the Melbourne United star was always determined to pull on the Boomers jersey again.
"I'm excited to be able to pull on the green and gold on home soil for three home games in Melbourne," said Dellavedova, who has represented Australia in three Olympics.
"The games are going to be tough and competitive, can't wait to get started."
NBL Championship winners Clint Steindl, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk, Sam McDaniel and Jack White will all make their Boomers debuts.
Keanu Pinder and New Zealand Breakers' Will McDowell White will also make their first appearances for Australia at senior level.
Adelaide 36ers captain Mitch McCarron and Perth Wildcats guard Todd Blanchfield will represent the Boomers again after both were a part of the Australia's gold-medal 2017 FIBA Asia Cup campaign.
Sam Froling and Jack McVeigh will also be looking to build on their limited past experiences playing for Australia.
"I'm really excited by the depth of basketball talent in Australia, we have put together a competitive list of players, six who are playing as Boomers for the first time," Boomers coach Brian Goorjian said.
"We know what China and Japan will bring to the table and what it will take for the win.
"We can expect Thon Maker at 7ft to be a significant asset for us, alongside Delly, White and Froling.
"There is a lot to like with this group. We only have a short time to train together but we will make it count, I know the home crowd will give us the advantage."
The Boomers will meet China on June 30, Japan on July 1 and China again on July 3.
