13:38 (Newcastle) Lochnaver

Lochnaver scored over this trip at Hamilton two starts ago and the daughter of Frankel was not disgraced at the same venue last time.

A reproduction of either of those efforts today would give her a big chance.

Purple Ice has shown promise on his last couple of starts and he should not be underestimated, while Daaris and Major Snugfit are others to note.

14:08 (Newcastle) Beyond Reproach

The best bet of the day at Gosforth Park, however, could come in the EBF Restricted Novice Stakes curtesy of Karl Burke's Beyond Reproach.

The Dandy Man colt was headed late when making an eyecatching debut at Ayr and considering his handler's proficiency with his juvenile crop this term, is well worth keeping onside here.

The horse that beat him that day was Chuzzlewit, who had contested the Gimcrack Stakes on his previous start and has always been held in high regard by his trainer Kevin Ryan. Considering he had to pull out all the stops to beat Beyond Reproach, there is plenty pointing to a bold bid from the Burke youngster in his second appearance.

14:38 (Newcastle) Never Just A Dream

Never Just A Dream could turn punters hopes into reality if obliging in Newcastle's EBF Conditions Stakes.

Although coming up short on both occasions when tried in Group company, Ismail Mohammed's youngster is unbeaten on an all-weather surface and has found the scoresheet twice this term.

He kept on strongly for an impressive course-and-distance success on his penultimate outing and although the son of No Nay Never raced much too freely when well held in the Middle Park last month, this is much calmer waters.

He could be underestimated having been campaigned aggressively by his handler and could justify Mohammed's faith in this six-furlong contest.

15:08 (Newcastle) Kiritimati Island

Kiritimati Island comfortably won a similar C&D event last time (second has won since) and a 4lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Balqaa also brings winning track-and-trip form to the table and was touched off here recently.

She is likely to be in the shake-up again, while Golden Valour, Key Look, Martin's Brig and Cloch Nua are others to note.

15:38 (Newcastle) Equiano Springs

Fast And Loose was touched off in the Bronze Cup at Ayr last time and he is sure to go close with a repeat performance, while Aasser, Runninwild and Tothenines also warrant respect. The vote, however, goes to Tom Tate's Equiano Springs.

This consistent gelding comfortably justified favouritism at Newmarket latest and he looks capable of defying a 5lb rise in the ratings.

16:13 (Newcastle) Cheese The One

Both Variety Island and Willing To Please arrive in good form and it shouldn't be long before the pair pick some more races up, but they may prove vulnerable to speedier types now dropped in trip.

Cheese The One makes most appeal after landing her second race when winning over C&D last month and a 6lb rise shouldn't prevent the Rebecca Menzies inmate from going close in her bid for the hat-trick.

Fellow three-year-old My Boy Jack is another to consider after finishing third over this trip at Wolverhampton.

16:45 (Newcastle) Blazing Hot

A 4lb rise may prove lenient for Blazing Hot and the five-year-old could be too hot to handle for his rivals if continuing in the same vein of form since joining the David Brown yard.

Sugar Baby appears to be the selection's chief threat, providing the son of Monsieur Bond proves as competitive now returning to the all-weather after a successful stint on the turf, with Impressor another to consider if getting more luck in running after enduring a troubled passage over C&D 11 days ago.

17:20 (Newcastle)  Lady Celia

Polam Lane has proved a more consistent proposition since having cheekpieces applied, but the four-year-old may find life tougher now running off a career-high mark due to his latest 5lb rise in the ratings.

Red Allure arrives in good form after a successful campaign on the turf, but she is now 11lb higher than when last seen tasting defeat on the all-weather in May.

Therefore, a chance is taken on Lady Celia, whose mark has fallen to 2lb higher than her success at Pontefract in June and recent efforts show the Richard Fahey inmate may be returning to the boil.
