Boomers' big man Jock Landale is firmly in the hunt for an NBA championship ring after being officially traded to the Phoenix Suns.

The 26-year-old centre impressed in his debut season with the San Antonio Spurs and will now head to the Western Conference powerhouse after being acquired for cash considerations.

He'd been traded from the Spurs to the Atlanta Hawks, but is again on the move just weeks later.

Now he'll be a bench option for a Suns outfit that lost in the 2020-21 NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks, before falling in the playoffs' second-round against the Dallas Mavericks this season.

He joins a loaded roster that includes legendary point guard Chris Paul, emerging superstar Devin Booker and former No.1 draft pick Deandre Ayton, although the Suns are exploring trade offers for the latter.

They could yet improve further, with former league MVP Kevin Durant having requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, with the Suns and Miami Heat reportedly his destinations of choice.

Landale gave the Spurs 4.9 points and 2.7 rebounds a game in less than 11 minutes per outing, scoring his points at a tidy clip of 49.5 per cent from the field.

The Boomer was part of the side that won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, while he helped Melbourne United to the 2021 NBL title.
