Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 24th July 2022

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 24.

Racecourse : Sapphire Coast (Australia)
Racecourse : Sapphire Coast (Australia)

SAPPHIRE COAST: RACE 1 @ 12:20 PM

CONSTANTINOU (4) placed on the Moruya heavy first-up for the new barn. Was even better three-back in Victoria on debut and fitter should be taking this out. ULTRAGIRL (10) won a Canberra trial and wasn't beaten far on debut on the Albury heavy. In a smart Canberra barn and is fitter is some danger. SOUTHERN GUN (3) led on the Moruya heavy a month ago and turned the form around with the 1.3L defeat. Uses the rail and should get conditions to suit. CHILEAN EXPRESS (1) resumes and was only beaten 1.5L at Wagga his only fresh outing. Hasn't seen a wet track but will have come on and may enjoy it. SELECTIONS: Backing Constantinou.

CASTERTON: RACE 3 @ 1:58 PM

ELVISON (1) has really taken to jumps racing winning twice and finishing runner up twice at his last four outings. Started a short priced favourite when a tough on pace winner at this track and distance last start. The one to beat. HISTORIC (2) has been mixing his form of late and hard to see him turn the tables on Elvison after being safely held last start. Place prospects best. LAYLITE (6) has finished runner up at two of his last three outings but beaten by big margins. Poor last start when favourite and can only entertain rough place thoughts. SELECTIONS: Elvison to win.

SALE: RACE 4 @ 1:45 PM

PEAK ROAD (5) chased hard but was no match for Guantanamera last start over the mile at Donald when lining up for just the second time. Promising type who will enjoy getting out over a little further and the long run home at this track. Ready to win. KING OF SWING (3) recently made it four minor placings from as many starts when he led into the straight but found a couple better at the end of 1400m at Ballarat. That run followed a six-week layoff so he strips fitter and should appreciate a bit more ground and less pressure this time. HESITATE (10) ran into bother last start and should have finished a bit closer than sixth over 1600m at Pakenham synthetic. In the money at her other three appearances and will enjoy this step up in journey. RHYTHMIC DRAGON (6) has boxed on evenly to finish just behind the placings in his two runs this prep, both at the mile. Ready to find some form third up. SELECTIONS: Keen on #5 Peak Road.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 12:30 PM

Tricky race to assess with the bulk of the field facing the starter for the first time. BIG SKY COUNTRY (1) is a Spirit Of Boom colt from the Tony Gollan stable who looks set to break through after two minor placings. Drawn the inside gate today, and should be able to control the race from the outset. Hard to beat. DIANA'S AFFAIR (3) makes his debut here off a couple of nice trials. Looks to have some talent and is well connected. Like that profile and similarly SIR LEONIDAS (8) looks sure to be popular. Has won a trial and did so on heavy ground at Deagon. SELECTIONS: Big Sky Country to win.

KALGOORLIE: RACE 5 @ 2:55 PM

LONG WEEKEND (3) just missed twice including in town before delivering the big CL2 win here from the speed. Impressed and he can go on with it. HILTON (1) missed the hat-trick by a lip in the 55 and that stacks right up. Keeps the 3kg claim and will use an inside gate. TALK IT UP (4) didn't have the best of it as favourite the latest off a strongly-rating near-miss. Uses the rail and is also a chance in a good race. LOVE DRUNK BABY (8) also rates well but needs some luck skipping across from an awkward barrier. SELECTIONS: With Long Weekend.

PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 5 @ 3:40 PM

MARINA (1) goes very well here with two wins from four starts and continues to race well. Form claimer aboard and looks tough to beat. AUGUSTA ROCK (3) was a winner at this journey and circuit last time out. Drawn to camp the speed again and will be winding up strongly. ABIT RATTLEY (2) sat on the speed and battled on okay into third place last time out over 1396m at this track. Should be prominent throughout. SCARLET RIVER (4) finished among the placings last time when third at this track and is overdue for a win. Senior rider goes back aboard and looks a definite winning hope. Winkers come off. SPY COLONEL (6) has been in the market at his last couple of starts but hasn't made an impression, last start running sixth at this track. Rates as a place chance. SELECTIONS: Follow up Marina.
