Tottenham vs Man City tips: Visitors to take charge of title race

Man City can put one hand on the trophy with a win against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Tuesday night (2000 BST).

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways when beating Burnley 2-1 on Saturday so it's had to see how they'll slow Man City down as they motor towards another title.

Mickey van de Ven's sexy run and finish in the 82nd minute handed Spurs all three points, but not before it panned out exactly as we predicted.

The Clarets took the lead as Ange Postecoglou's side made life hard for themselves again. If they afford City a head start, there will be no coming back.

Pep Guardiola's well-oiled machine is two wins away from securing a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title and you'd expect them to see it through from this position.

However, if they fail to beat Tottenham, the title is Arsenal's for the taking should they win on the final day. The Gunners' fate currently rests in their bitter rival's hands.

f it weren't for the fact Tottenham were chasing Champions League football, Spurs fans would probably tell you they'd be happy to lose this match.

One more point will clinch them sixth place and a spot in the Europa League, while two wins from two are required if they want to catch Aston Villa, who currently occupy fourth place.

Their defensive record, particularly against good teams, makes it hard to see past a City win. Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool recently put a combined 11 goals past them and their frailties were on show on Saturday.

On the other hand, City are unbeaten in 21 and they've found the net four times in three of their last four away matches. Given Spurs' shoddy defence record, a repeat performance isn't unthinkable.

Team news

Seven Tottenham players will miss out on Tuesday, with Fraser Forster, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon out for the remainder of the season.

Timo Werner and Richarlison were also forced to call time on their season earlier this month.

Jack Grealish missed Saturday's win over Fulham with illness.

Guardiola will provide an update on Nathan Ake's foot injury in the pre-match press conference on Monday.
