Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Tamworth, Ararat, Mackay and Cranbourne.

TAMWORTH: RACE 6 @ 3:40 PM

GULF OF TOMINI (2) tough gelding racing in great heart. Relished the heavy (10) conditions when a dominant 2.5 len winner over 2100m at Gosford on April 4. Drops in weight for this and has the figures to win again. AIMPOINT (3) desperate for a change of luck after finishing in the minor money at his last three outings. Sat on the speed with the 58kg when a fighting second over 2000m at Hawkesbury on April 18. The 2100m won't pose a problem and expected to figure prominently. FINE EXAMPLE (5) has needed the three runs in this prep and out to her right distance range today. Had two runs at this trip for two wins and expecting to see her bounce back to form with the 55kg. Can race closer and take holding out. NORMAN (8) win record hardly excites but has an okay record at this track. Will appreciate the drop in weight after holding on well with the 60.5kg when fourth over 1900m at Armidale. Senior rider on from the good gate. Value play.
SELECTIONS: Gulf Of Tomini to win.

ARARAT: RACE 5 @ 3:00 PM

BALTIC WAY (6) should be even fitter for the 2200m now after just peaking on his run when he presented to win last start over the same distance at Geelong, finishing third. Has drawn to get a soft run again with John Allen aboard in a suitable race and looms as the horse to beat. ECLAIR DANCER (1) made a move before the turn at Wyong last start and stuck on well for second over 2100m. Looks a genuine chance here. BIT OF A RAIDER (7) looks to have each-way claims at decent odds while LAST RAIDER (3) looks close to a win after placing at his last three.
SELECTIONS: Baltic Way to win.

MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 4:27 PM

OLIGARCHY (1) accepted in both this and the previous race (winnable) and he will line up here. Won easily this track first up heavily-bet and the longer sprint shouldn't bother. Promising and Butler is a positive jockey booking. Will take beating. NIC ME SOME (2) peaks and has been knocking on the door. The near miss at Rockhampton two back reads well and the 2kg claim brings him right into it. WHAKAMIHARO (5) was a big 50 winner at Monto and has claims if the wide gate is managed. MISS SHALAA (13) peaks and will use the low gate. She's going well enough to include at a price.
SELECTIONS: Oligarchy appeals most.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 5 @ 7:15 PM

UPWOODS (4) registered a Pakenham maiden win three runs back and two subsequent efforts in town have been strong for a race like this. Expected to go close. DANDRUFF (6) appreciated the rise in trip when breaking through for maiden win at Swan Hill. Looks a promising stayer and is worthy of respect. DODGY ONE (1) is rarely too far from the mark in a race like this and has to be given thought. BOGUES (2) wasn't too far from the money at Ballarat last time after being retired from a race at Sandown. Shapes as though he will handle this trip. Has claims.
SELECTIONS: Pretty keen on Upwoods.
