Chisora and Joyce set for July showdown

The O2 Arena is set to host a heavyweight clash between two London-based fighters Derek Chisora and Joe Joyce on July 27.

Two-time world-title challenger Chisora rebounded from his 2022 stoppage defeat to Tyson Fury with a points victory over Gerald Washington last August.

Putney fighter Joyce is also in the process of rebuilding his career after suffering heavy back-to-back defeats to Zhilei Zhang last year.

"This is a proper old school heavyweight fight that seems to have been a long time in the making," promoter Frank Warren told the Queensberry website.

"I remember it being talked about strongly even before we teamed up with Joe and it has always struck me as a natural and obvious fight to make.

"Two top London heavies fighting it out for a place back at the top table promises to deliver a cracking scrap.

"The winner is right back in business, with no real place to go for the loser."

Finchley-based Chisora, 40, has a 34-13 record with 23 wins by way of knockout, while 'Juggernaut' Joyce, 38, has won 16 times with those two defeats to Zhang the only blemishes on his record.
