Chairman of Racing NSW, John Messara AM and Racing Victoria's Executive General Manager of Racing & Chief Handicapper, Greg Carpenter will join a stellar line up of trainers for this years' 9th annual Late Mail Luncheon® to be held on Derby eve at the Sofitel Melbourne.

Hosted by Nine Network Sports Journalist Clint Stanaway and former model & TV presenter Nikki Osborne, spring's premier racing lunch has done it again attracting event that seems to attract more and more trainers every year has done it again with an incredible line up of racing's best.

NSW's racing supremo John Messara, fresh from securing another $10 million in funding for Sydney's ever growing autumn carnival 'The Championships' will be joining the Late Mail Luncheon® on stage for the first time since 2008 to discuss the big racing issues.

"The Late Mail Luncheon® is a great way of getting everyone in the mood for the wonderful week of racing to follow. It should be great fun and informative!" said Messara.

"Fun, informative and organised chaos" is how marketing and event guru Mark Scaife (not the V8 supercar driver) describes what will be on offer again to the usually boisterous crowd of around 450.

Scaife, who survived a heart attack 3 years ago at age 43 and is more motivated than ever to help worthy causes, said "I think the reason the Late Mail Luncheon® has become a must-do event is because we do our best to squeeze in as much entertainment as possible and this year we're going to try and get all of our race trainers up on stage for their Cup tips."

And that line up of trainers is pretty impressive.

Darren Weir will join Mick Price, Greg Eurell and John Thompson on the main stage to kick things off. Weir is this year's premiership winning trainer in Victoria; Price is the trainer of Australia's sprint superstar 'Lankan Rupee', Eurell is a Cox Plate and multiple Group 1 winner and Thompson has just kicked off his post-Tinkler career with the brilliant win of 'First Seal' in the Tea Rose Stakes at Royal Randwick last Saturday.

The panel will be hosted by the Courier Mail's Editor of Racing Nathan Exelby who comes down from the Sunshine State for the day to replace the much-loved John Letts who is still recovering from a health scare and will be sorely missed by all.

Trainers Robbie Griffiths, Mark Riley, Ciaron Maher and Rebecca Waymouth will all offer up their tips along with Bjorn Baker, Con Karakatsanis, Peter Gelagotis, Leon Corstens and Dan Meagher who will also feature on stage.

This extraordinary line-up of trainers will provide guests with analysis and insight into all the fancied runners in this year’s Melbourne Cup and try and offer some winning advice for Derby Day.

But the 'rock stars of racing' won't steal the show this year we're told.

The line up of live entertainment planned for this years' lunch has been kept under wraps with organisers only prepared to hint that they are all about trying to bring back ' the magic of the Melbourne Cup.'

Nine Network's Clint Stanaway will try and keep proceedings on track during the rowdy 4-hour soiree and will be assisted by TV glamour host Nikki Osborne fresh from a stint on comedy TV "Kinne."

The infamous Official After Party at The Longroom in Collins Street kicks off after the luncheon concludes and will again feature the legendary 'piano man to the stars' Marty Rose live. This is an invitation-only event and is included in the price of a ticket for those who are brave enough to kick on.

Only 40 tickets remain at $220 each. Bookings at www.latemaillunch.com
