Fund established to support the family of Carly-Mae Pye

Racing Queensland has established a trust fund to support the family and partner of jockey Carly-Mae Pye who died yesterday following a fall at Callaghan Park in Rockhampton on Monday.

CEO Darren Condon said members of the racing fraternity and the general public had been offering to help in any way they could since Carly-Mae’s fall and the fund would assist her loved ones in this difficult time.

“The past few days have shown just how close the racing family is as it rallied behind Carly-Mae, her family and the Rockhampton racing community,” Mr Condon said.

“I would ask not just the racing community, but all Queenslanders, to continue to keep Carly-Mae’s family and partner, Tim, in their prayers and help out where they can by donating to this fund.

“Carly-Mae devoted her life to horses both as a jockey and an equestrian rider and she will be remembered by all in the racing community as a lovely person and gifted horsewoman.”

Jockeys at today’s Ipswich meeting will wear black armbands in honour of Carly-Mae, while Rockhampton Jockey Club CEO Bill Colgan said a tribute was being planned at Callaghan Park on Saturday.

“Carly-Mae was highly respected for her passion and affinity with horses and was noted for her energetic and effervescent personality,” Mr Colgan said.

“She will be sadly missed by everyone in the Central Queensland racing industry.”
