The biggest days of racing in Australia as the Sydney rugby league community comes together on Men Of League Cox Plate Day.

Customers at Rosehill Gardens simply need to show their TAB Rewards or TAB Account card at the gates to save $20 on general admission entry as a solid eight race card provides a backdrop to a host of Sydney horses, jockeys and trainers competing down south.

All of the Moonee Valley races including the WS Cox Plate at 5.40pm will be broadcast live on the biggest screen in the southern hemisphere in the Rosehill Gardens infield.

The Men Of League Foundation – which has raised more than $3.6 million to support men, women and children in the Sydney rugby league community – will hold its annual function in the Grand Pavilion on Saturday to continue to raise funds for the charity.

Promotional staff for the foundation will also be selling raffle tickets across the racecourse on the day, with patrons given the chance to win a $20,000 cash prize.

On the Rosehill Gardens track, the John O’Shea trained Godolphin youngster Furnaces is a red-hot $1.75 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in the Primo Moraitis Plate for the two year olds.

Furnaces, an Exceed And Excel colt, is one of 78 Godolphin two year olds among 1236 first acceptances in the world’s richest race for the equine babies, the iconic $3.5 million Tooheys New Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens. All but four of the 11 runners in Saturday’s two year old race are first acceptances for the Tooheys New Golden Slipper, including Saturday’s second favourite, Gai Waterhouse’s Brooklyn ($7 TAB Fixed Odds)

The two year old races in Sydney each Saturday in coming months will continue to hold great interest, with the high likelihood that next year’s Tooheys New Golden Slipper winner will be seen before the end of the year.

The last seven Tooheys New Golden Slipper runners had all had at least one run before the end of the year, with four of the last five winners of the great race having their first start as early as October.

“With the Tooheys New Golden Slipper now run two weeks earlier it is even more likely that we will see next year’s winner in the coming weeks and months,’’ Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager of Racing Matt Rudolph said.

Rosehill Gardens offers free parking and scheduled train services to the racecourse.

Free high capacity WiFi is available across the course and for all race day ticketing, hospitality and general and racing information go to www.theraces.com.au
