StrideMaster – Tasracing’s unique GPS tracking system for thoroughbreds that captures key performance statistics for all horses in all Tasmanian races – will benefit from an upgrade.
The upgrade that will provide customers with live, in-race information on the entire field.
Tasracing chief executive officer Eliot Forbes said providing live data to customers to assist in more sophisticated form analysis was a unique next step in the product’s ongoing development.
“It also provides a major point of difference between thoroughbred racing in Tasmania and other jurisdictions in terms of available information on horse performance,” he said.
StrideMaster developer David Hawke said the upgrade – which would be followed by the release of a smartphone App – took advantage of improvements in GPS technology that were previously not available.
“The enhancements will allow Tasracing to deliver more accurate data from all three Tasmanian thoroughbred tracks directly into the hands of customers in real time,” he said.
“It builds on the cutting edge data that Tasracing customers are already able to access.”
The current StrideMaster system captures speed, sectional times, positions in running and margin from leader, as well as key bio-metric data such as stride length, stride duration and stride efficiency.
Dr Forbes said the upgrade would allow the system to stream data, such as leader speed, in-race sectional times, distance travelled/distance to run and position in running information, live to the customer.
“StrideMaster has already driven significant new visitor traffic to Tasracing’s web site (tasracing.com.au) and positioned Tasmanian thoroughbred racing as a premium choice for wagering customers,” he said.
“We believe the enhancements planned will be beneficial to our customers and add value to our already strong digital offering.
“It will also enhance the broadcast experience for those watching Tasmanian thoroughbred racing because of the sophisticated data it will be able to provide for pre and post-race analysis.”
Introduction of the upgraded StrideMaster system is planned for early 2015.
