Sydney Horse Reports - April 10-18

Post race reports from recent Sydney meetings.

RANDWICK April 18

RACE 1: Trainer Greg Hickman reported that Private Secretary had pulled up well and he would continue on with the mare's preparation. He reiterated that the mare was not suited by the soft track conditions.

Ms A Large, representing trainer Allan Denham, reported that Grande Punto pulled up well and has pleased the stable. He will continue with the preparation and plans to start Grande Punto at the Hawkesbury meeting on May 2.

WARWICK FARM – April 15

Race 3: Co-trainer James Cummings reported that Commission had pulled up well and a blood profile was within normal parameters. Cummings will freshen Commission up and aim to start the gelding in a fortnight.

Race 4: Trainer Sam Kavanagh reported that Spinning Diamond will be freshened up after showing the effects of a hard run.

Race 5: Trainer Sam Kavanagh reported that Braidley pulled up well, however, he will trial and possibly add blinkers.

GOSFORD: April 14

RACE 1: Stable representative Darren Beadman advised that Sima had pulled up well and a subsequent veterinary examination, including an endoscopic examination, revealed no abnormalities.

RANDWICK April 11

RACE 1: Stable representative Mark Newnham advised that Clash Of Clans had pulled up well, however had been sent for a spell.

RACE 8: Stable representative Darren Beadman advised that Hartnell had pulled up well, however had been sent for a spell.

RACE 10: Co-trainer James Cummings advised that Shamalia had pulled up well but had suffered a minor laceration to its near foreleg. He added that the intention was to continue on with the horse's preparation. Mr Cummings added that Shamalia would in all likelihood barrier trial prior to racing.

Trainer Anthony Cummings advised that Villa Verde had pulled up well and the intention is for the horse to stay in work for the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

KEMBLA GRANGE April 10

RACE 1: Stewards concluded an inquiry into the late withdrawal of Major Major from this event after that gelding was found to have an area of swelling to the near side of its neck. The stewards considered a veterinary report from Dr M Brownlow as well as stable treatment records and veterinary records. Samples taken from the gelding, including blood and urine samples, all returned negative results. The stewards concluded the inquiry when satisfied on the evidence that the area of swelling was due to an adverse irritant response from a Darrows drip solution administered earlier in the week.
