Racing Victoria (RV) Chief Executive, Bernard Saundry, has today announced the appointment of Giles Thompson to the position of Chief Financial Officer.
Mr Thompson joins RV after nine years employed at Betfair Australia where he held the positions of Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer during his tenure.
Prior to that Mr Thompson worked in the media industry for six years and held senior executive positions with APN News and Media and The Financial Times Group.
Mr Thompson will be responsible for the organisation’s growth strategies and financial management, leading and directing RV’s Finance, Strategy, Wagering and Information Services teams.
“We are really pleased to have secured a highly respected and experienced executive like Giles Thompson for the important position of Chief Financial Officer,” Mr Saundry said.
“Giles brings a wealth of knowledge and demonstrated excellence in strategic planning and financial management to the business, together with an intimate knowledge of the Australian wagering market.
“His appointment is a valuable one for the organisation and ensures that we are best placed to embark on the development of our next strategic plan over the coming 12 months.”

Mr Thompson will commence duties on Monday, 7 September 2015.
