Amanda Elliott To Address New York Conference

Amanda Elliott will become the first Victoria Racing Club chair to speak at the prestigious Jockey Club Round Table Conference in New York.

The 65th annual event will be held on August 13 at Saratoga Springs.

Elliott, who was appointed the first female chair of the VRC in February, will provide insights into the club, racing at Flemington, the Melbourne Cup’s global importance and the impact of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to promote our magnificent Club and our Melbourne Cup Carnival to a worldwide audience,” she said.

“We are custodians of Australia’s original major event, the Melbourne Cup, which is broadcast into more than 160 territories, showcasing the event and Melbourne around the globe to millions of people.

“The VRC is committed to continual improvement and innovation, and I look forward to sharing our vision for Flemington when I address the Round Table Conference.”

Other featured speakers at the 2017 Round Table Conference include leading US thoroughbred owner Barbara Banke, former National Basketball Association senior executive Rachel Jacobson and McKinsey & Company’s Ben Vonwiller.

The Jockey Club Round Table Conference was first held in 1953 and has been held in Saratoga every August since 1954.
