Sydney Specials: Rosehill – 13th August 2022

More than happy to put last weekend behind us and looking forward to Rosehill on Saturday, there are plenty of intriguing races.

The Rosebud is one of the highlights and has thrown up a bizarre favourite in Kibou.

Unbeaten since being gelded (2/2) however it's an interesting set up back to 1100m off a 56 day break.

This looks a bridging run for better races down the track and I can't say I loved his most recent trial.

Both Sebonack and Spacewalk have trialled well and have to lean their way, I'd be surprised if either wasn't in the finish.

In the race prior the Chris Waller trained Lovely Esteem looks ready to break through.

She loomed to win last start but appeared to peak on her run late.

In truth when you analyse the sectionals, she was simply left with too much to do, her run held plenty of merit.

Stays at 1800m and should be right at her top fourth up.

Was only narrowly beaten behind Elusive Jewel last start and now gets a 2kg swing in her favour.

Hoping she can settle a touch closer this time and McDonald sticking aboard is another plus.

Have marked her the 6/4 favourite and hence very happy to bet up at the $4 quote.

No prizes for finding Frumos, however I still feel black odds is good odds.

Unbeaten in three starts, she is a mare on the rise and love her set-up, four weeks between runs and a soft trial in-between.

The map is against as she is likely to settle towards the rear, however there is good speed engaged with Sally Pops and Riduna rolling forward.

The line horse for the race is Sur La Mer with Frumos beating her last start before Sur La Mer went on to beat Tawfiq Lass at her next start.

Adjusting for the weight conditions in both races, I have ~3.5L between the two performances and Frumos now receives 1.5kg off Tawfiq Lass.

Given Tawfiq Lass is the early market danger, it becomes very easy to mark Frumos short.

Around the even money mark she looks the banker of the day (if wanting to back a shorty).

Simon Dinopoulos' Tips:

Race 5 #5 Frumos @ $2.00
Race 7 #5 Lovely Esteem @ $4.20
