For the first time ever, a 10-race card from Australia will be taken by World Pool with Saturday's The Championships Day 2 from Randwick.

Whereas recent meetings have seen only a handful of races taken for betting by the world, this weekend will see all 10 races taking part. This means that all 10 races will have a national tote pool.

So who will win? Read on for all of your selections and betting strategies to make the most of World Pool on Saturday.

RANDWICK

Race 1 - JERICHO CAPITAL FERNHILL MILE - Listed, 1600m

The Fernhill is the first opportunity for the Sydney two-year-olds to get out to a mile, as it has been for most of the last century. Plenty of future topliners have won this race, from Prince Darius, Gunsynd and Beau Zam through to recent subsequent G1 winners like Prized Icon, Converge and Tom Kitten.

This year's race looks to have some depth to it and there are a few ways to dissect this contest.

Justify can do no wrong currently as a sire and he looks to have another lovely horse in JUST PARTY. A chestnut stamped by his sire, he stuck on well on debut at Newcastle when only just grabbed in the last couple of strides. He then settled behind the leaders at Wyong before toughing it out to score. The 1600m should suit, but the question is whether this is all too much too soon for him. Still, he should enjoy a nice run and he is a horse who – whether he wins or loses – must be followed in the spring.

KILLCARE BEACHGIRL is one from one, having also prevailed at Wyong on debut over 1200m. The mile should suit her and she's likely to be the leader here from the inside gate. She's a major player.

EL CASTELLO is a chance at odds too, having finished off powerfully on debut at massive odds, while it looks only a matter of time before BROADSIDING manages to get a win on the board.

Selections: 1-6-5-3

Suggested Win Bet: #1 Just Party

Suggested Place Bet: #6 Killcare Beachgirl

Suggested Quinella Bet: #1 Just Party with #5 El Castello, #6 Killcare Beachgirl

Suggested Duet Bet: #6 Killcare Beachgirl with #1 Just Party, #3 Broadsiding, #5 El Castello

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #1 Just Party, #3 Broadsiding, #5 El Castello, #6 Killcare Beachgirl

Race 2 - BISLEY WORKWEAR SOUTH PACIFIC CLASSIC - Listed, 1400m

An eclectic group of three-year-olds meets in the South Pacific Classic. So often, it is not about the best horse winning this race with the likes of Kovalica, Rediener, Private Eye, Kukeracha, Icebath, Dark Dream and Santa Ana Lane – all Group 1 winners – beaten here in the last 10 years.

PORT LOCKROY was the top pick in last week's G3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) until he was withdrawn on race morning. He sticks to the 1400m, which is unlikely ideal, while he also has to contend with gate 17. However, there appears enough speed that he should be able to get into a position one off or, at worst, three wide with cover. He is certainly worth chancing here after a terrific Listed Canberra Guineas (1400m) run last time out.

KAIZAD did little fresh after working across from a wide gate. He has never shown much fresh though and clearly took a step forward last preparation. The drier the track, the better and he should get as soft a run as possible on or near the speed from gate one.

PANIC has won his last two either side of a break, both at the provincials by narrow margins. He's drawn to do no work and he's the type of horse who could run well here without surprising. He should improve again over even further.

Next best, the fresh MISTERKIPCHOGE and the heavily weighted BUTCH CASSIDY.

Selections: 7-3-9-18

Suggested Win Bet: #7 Port Lockroy

Suggested Place Bet: #7 Port Lockroy

Suggested Quinella Bet: #7 Port Lockroy with #1 Butch Cassidy, #3 Kaizad, #9 Panic, #18 Misterkipchoge

Suggested Duet Bet: #3 Kaizad and #9 Panic with #1 Butch Cassidy, #3 Kaizad, #7 Port Lockroy, #9 Panic, #18 Mister Kipchoge

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #7 Port Lockroy with #1 Butch Cassidy, #3 Kaizad, #9 Panic, #18 Misterkipchoge

Race 3 - POLYTRACK PROVINCIAL-MIDWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL = Special Conditions, 1400m

Just like its Country Championships equivalent last weekend, this has become a very popular race very quickly. While plenty of these trainers have won big races before, it is still an opportunity for those who train small strings in the city or those who train outside the city to race for big money.

STRAIT ACER represents G1-winning trainer Ed Cummings, who trains out of Hawkesbury. He's actually been a little disappointing in his two runs in heats for this, finishing a poor sixth to TERRITORY EXPRESS at Kembla in February before rallying for second last time out when drawing very wide and having to make up a colossal amount of ground. He really hit his strides fourth-up last preparation and if he brings his form from late last preparation when he was fourth in the Golden Eagle (1500m) and third in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) – with horses like Hawaii Five Oh, Legarto, Amelia's Jewel, Kovalica, Skew Wiff, Munhamek and Chain Of Lightning in behind across both races – he should be extremely competitive.

The aforementioned Territory Express would certainly represent the feelgood story should he win. Trained by Kembla Grange's Paul Niceforo, who only has four named horses in his stable, he was a strong winner of his heat before finishing the narrowest of seconds at Group 2 level in the Ajax Stakes (1500m). The horses either side of him there, Democracy Manifest and Detonator Jack, were beaten just over two lengths in the G1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) last weekend.

TAVI TIME may be the best horse in here but a combination of the 59kg, the wide gate and remaining at the 1400m – when he looks like he would relish getting up over a mile or even further – is enough reason to take him on, at least on a Win line. However, he certainly must be included in all exotics.

Next best is WILLINGA BEAST, who finished 10th in the G1 T J Smith Stakes (1200m) last weekend but drops significantly in grade and looms as a place chance here.

Selections: 2-8-1-15

Suggested Win Bet: #2 Strait Acer

Suggested Place Bet: #2 Strait Acer

Suggested Quinella Bet: #2 Strait Acer with #1 Tavi Time, #8 Territory Express

Suggested Duet Bet: #2 Strait Acer with #1 Tavi Time, #15 Willinga Beast

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #2 Strait Acer and #8 Territory Express stood out from #1 Tavi Time, #15 Willinga Beast

Race 4 - TAB PERCY SYKES STAKES - Group 2, 1200m

This two-year-old fillies contest has become a real target in recent years, rather than simply being an afterthought. That could be a factor at play on Saturday.

DRIFTING won the G3 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) a week before the world's richest juvenile race, the G1 Golden Slipper (1200m). She guaranteed her place if her connections wished to back her up, but instead, they've decided to bring her here. She will likely end up in the right spot near the speed from gate two and she gets her chance in a similar race here.

The eventual Golden Slipper winner LADY OF CAMELOT runs here, becoming the first Slipper winner to line up since Kiamichi ran last in 2019. She skipped the G1 Inglis Sires' (1400m) last week and this race does appear more suitable, even with the penalty. The wide gate could make it tough but she is such a tenacious filly that she can't be overlooked.

FLY FLY remains a maiden but arguably should have beaten Drifting last time out. The bigger field is in her favour and she'll be finishing off strongly.

Next best is MORE TERRITORIES, an impressive winner on the Kensington track on debut, ahead of DIDDLE DUMPLING and TOO DARN LIZZIE.

Selections: 3-1-8-13

Suggested Win Bet: #3 Drifting

Suggested Place Bet: #3 Drifting

Suggested Quinella Bet: #3 Drifting with #1 Lady Of Camelot, #8 Fly Fly, #13 More Territories

Suggested Duet Bet: #3 Drifting and #8 Fly Fly with #1 Lady Of Camelot, #3 Drifting, #7 Too Darn Lizzie, #8 Fly Fly, #13 More Territories, #15 Diddle Dumpling

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #1 Lady Of Camelot, #3 Drifting, #7 Too Darn Lizzie, #8 Fly Fly, #13 More Territories, #15 Diddle Dumpling

Race 5 - ARROWFIELD 3YO SPRINT - Group 2, 1200m

A strong group of three-year-old sprinters meets here.

Remarkably, only one horse – Japonisme – has completed the double of the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) in the spring and the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint in the autumn since both races settled in their current positions in 2014.

OZZMOSIS will be aiming to complete the same double and should get his chance here. Ignore his first-up run in the G1 The Galaxy – he missed the start terribly and was never in the race. The form around him has generally stood up – even though the placegetters from the Coolmore have not performed this autumn, Veight and Cylinder have come out of the race to win Group 1 races while his Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) win over Celestial Legend looks very good now. He can bounce back at set weights.

LEARNING TO FLY is a logical danger. She was scratched last weekend when the track looked like being wet – a shame as she would likely have won. She deserves a bit of luck and, although she'll need it from the outside gate, she's incredibly talented and shapes as a big chance.

ARKANSAW KID is as consistent as they come and he'll be competitive here, while RED RESISTANCE can improve significantly at his second start in a year.

Selections: 1-12-2-5

Suggested Win Bet: #1 Ozzmosis

Suggested Place Bet: #2 Arkansaw Kid

Suggested Quinella Bet: #1 Ozzmosis with #2 Arkansaw Kid, #12 Learning To Fly

Suggested Duet Bet: #2 Arkansaw Kid with #1 Ozzmosis, #5 Red Resistance, #12 Learning To Fly

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #1 Ozzmosis, #2 Arkansaw Kid, #5 Red Resistance, #12 Learning To Fly

Race 6 - THE STAR AUSTRALIAN OAKS - Group 1, 2400m

After the three-year-old colts and geldings had their chance in the Derby last week, the fillies get their opportunity in the Oaks this week.

The Kiwi fillies are generally superior and it's incredibly hard to look beyond ORCHESTRAL. She beat the boys throughout her New Zealand campaign, culminating in mammoth wins in the G2 Avondale Guineas (2100m) and the G1 New Zealand Derby (2400m), while she showed abundant tenacity and courage to win the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at her Australian debut last time out. Getting back out to a mile and a half will suit and she should be winning.

It's understandable why there is a lot of love for AUTUMN ANGEL after her enormous effort under a big weight in the G3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) last weekend. However, if Autumn Angel is a chance, then BASILINNA must be considered a chance too. She almost ran her down two starts back in the G2 Kewney Stakes (1600m) before making ground from near last in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m). She will be better for her first run at a mile and a half in November and think she is a real Quinella contender.

Autumn Angel is next best, ahead of G1 VRC Oaks (2500m) winner ZARDOZI.

Selections: 1-6-5-3

Suggested Win Bet: #1 Orchestral

Suggested Place Bet: #6 Basilinna

Suggested Quinella Bet: #1 Orchestral and #6 Basilinna

Suggested Duet Bet: #6 Basilinna with #1 Orchestral, #3 Zardozi, #5 Autumn Angel

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #1 Orchestral from #3 Zardozi, #5 Autumn Angel, #6 Basilinna

Race 7 - SCHWEPPES SYDNEY CUP - Group 1, 3200m

An impossible Sydney Cup to decipher with so many enigmatic horses, non-stayers and difficult to assess types in here.

He will almost certainly miss the start but it's worth siding with the old boy AMADE in here. Now a 10-year-old, he did run 12th here last year but otherwise his two-mile form is sensational, stretching back to a series of wins in France in 2018 and a G2 Belmont Gold Cup victory in the United States in 2019. Last time out, Zac Spain lost the irons in the G2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) and he did well to finish fourth. He's a big chance.

ASHRUN has made a remarkable comeback from a long layoff due to tendon injuries. He ran second to Amade in the G3 Geelong Cup (2400m) last year before finishing a good fourth in the G1 Melbourne Cup (3200m). He was a big winner of the Listed Pakenham Cup (2500m) last month before finishing third in the G1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) behind Kalapour. The two miles should suit and he's a threat.

Likely favourite CIRCLE OF FIRE backs up after a strong win in the G2 Chairman's Quality (2600m). He has no weight and he's going to be a good stayer to follow, but there are others that appeal at prices. Still, include him in exotics.

Next best is SO DAZZLING, who can finish in the placings at a price, while MAHRAJAAN is two from two at the trip and can add a strong Sydney Cup performance to his wins in the G3 New Zealand Cup (3200m) and G2 Auckland Cup (3200m).

Selections: 9-3-12-17

Suggested Win Bet: #9 Amade

Suggested Place Bet: #9 Amade

Suggested Quinella Bet: #9 Amade with #2 Mahrajaan, #3 Ashrun, #12 Circle Of Fire, #17 So Dazzling

Suggested Duet Bet: #9 Amade and #17 So Dazzling with #2 Mahrajaan, #3 Ashrun, #9 Amade, #12 Circle Of Fire, #17 So Dazzling

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #2 Mahrajaan, #3 Ashrun, #9 Amade, #12 Circle Of Fire, #17 So Dazzling

Race 8 - QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES - Group 1, 2000m

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes brings together some of the best middle-distance horses in the country for a tremendous clash of the titans.

While it does appear an epic 10-horse contest, it's hard to go against VIA SISTINA. She arrived with genuine G1 form from Europe and it stood up so well when she swept to victory in the G1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m). This is stronger, but she looked to have so much in the tank last time out and she should only have improved for that effort. She should win.

CASCADIAN and PRIDE OF JENNI go to battle again after finishing one-two respectively in the G1 Australian Cup (2000m). While Pride Of Jenni will almost certainly lead at her typically robust tempo, Cascadian is likely to be flashing home late once more. Think they can finish around the mark again, with Cascadian just passing Pride Of Jenni late yet again.

Next best is KOVALICA, who finally returns to 2000m – a distance that he is craving and one in which he may come into his own.

Selections: 8-2-7-5

Suggested Win Bet: #8 Via Sistina

Suggested Place Bet: #5 Kovalica

Suggested Quinella Bet: #8 Via Sistina with #2 Cascadian, #5 Kovalica, #7 Pride Of Jenni

Suggested Duet Bet: #5 Kovalica with #2 Cascadian, #7 Pride Of Jenni, #8 Via Sistina

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #8 Via Sistina with #2 Cascadian, #5 Kovalica, #7 Pride Of Jenni

Race 9 - GRAINSHAKER VODKA QUEEN OF THE TURF - Group 1, 1600m

One of the most competitive races of the entire The Championships comes up in the Queen of the Turf with plenty of these fillies and mares legitimate contenders.

TROPICAL SQUALL should get every chance here from gate three. She fought on so well in the G1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) last time out from a horrid draw while her two previous runs at Randwick resulted in Group 1 wins in the Surround Stakes (1400m) and the Flight Stakes (1600m). At weight-for-age, she is well suited and she is a big player.

ATISHU returns to 1600m after a strong effort for third behind Cascadian and Pride Of Jenni in the G1 Australian Cup (2000m) two weeks ago. She won this race last year and she will be strong late.

ZOUGOTCHA has won both starts this preparation, including the Coolmore Classic last time out. A mile seems to find her out but she should save every inch here and that should give her every opportunity.

Next best is the improving MAKARENA, who has had little luck this preparation, just ahead of Coolmore runner-up SEMANA.

Selections: 14-1-2-16

Suggested Win Bet: #14 Tropical Squall

Suggested Place Bet: #16 Makarena

Suggested Quinella Bet: #14 Tropical Squall with #1 Atishu, #2 Zougotcha, #16 Makarena

Suggested Duet Bet: #16 Makarena with #1 Atishu, #2 Zougotcha, #5 Semana, #14 Tropical Squall

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #1 Atishu, #2 Zougotcha, #5 Semana, #14 Tropical Squall, #16 Makarena

Race 10 - CINCOTTA CHEMIST SAPPHIRE STAKES - Group 2, 1200m

The sprinting fillies and mares bring The Championships to a close in the Sapphire Stakes.

WEE NESSY was second in the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint on this day last year. She enters off two thirds, including behind subsequent Group 1 winner Chain Of Lightning at her last start in the G3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m). She should enjoy every favour from gate three and this looks the right race for her to get on the board.

C'EST MAGIQUE finished three-quarters of a length ahead of Wee Nessy in the G3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) before getting well back in a messy race before finishing ninth in the Birthday Card last time out. Blinkers go on first time and this might be the time that she finally fulfils her enormous potential.

SALTAIRE has only won one of her 11 starts but she doesn't know how to run a bad race, while TASHI beat all bar Chain Of Lightning last time out and will likely be around the mark.

Selections: 3-2-14-4

Suggested Win Bet: #3 Wee Nessy

Suggested Place Bet: #3 Wee Nessy

Suggested Quinella Bet: #3 Wee Nessy with #2 C'est Magique, #14 Saltaire

Suggested Duet Bet: #3 Wee Nessy with #2 C'est Magique, #4 Tashi, #14 Saltaire

Suggested Trifecta Bet: #2 C'est Magique, #3 Wee Nessy, #4 Tashi, #14 Saltaire
