Valour Road wins Miss Andretti Stakes, Listed, $100,000 at Ascot, 1100m.
Favourite Valour Road scored but not after some anxious moments for his supporters. He began well and settled in third place on the rails before William Pike looked for a gap on straightening, eventually forcing a split at the 100m.
He then hit the front at the 50m and went on to score, seemingly comfortably at the post, securing his sixth win and his fifth at stakes level in 14 starts.
Belter was smartly away and soon went to the front. He got a break nearing the 100m but could not then hold off the winner, fighting on well for second.
Don't Fuss raced in fourth place, one out and one back, before challenging at the 200m. He then battled on nicely to take the minor placing.
