Cool Aza Beel wins Karaka Million 2yo, Listed, NZ$1,000,000 at Ellerslie, 1200m.

Full of running turning into the straight, Cool Aza Beel was too strong here for Te Akau's fourth successive Karaka Million (Listed, 1200m).

He was quickly away however Opie Bosson allowed him to ease and settle into a handy fourth. In the perfect one out, one back spot from the 600m he was cruising rounding into the home straight.

He went one track wider from the top of the straight then challenged, assumed the lead at the 300m and looked in control to the line for a comfortable length and half victory, his third in four starts.

Favourite Play That Song was sixth early (rails), moved away from the fence inside the 600m and camped outside the winner rounding into the straight.

She looked likely at the 350m, challenged but could not get past, keeping going solidly (without endangering Cool Aza Beel) for a clear second.

Taroni was back of midfield (rails) at the 800m, closer nearing the last corner then pulled wide, running home strongly for third.

Bordeaux Le Rouge was well back at the 600m, had a chequered run in the straight and finished well but too late, for a distant fourth.
