The Maher/Eustace stable continued its good spring campaign when the two –year-old Gulf of Suez won the first two-year-old race of the season of 1000 metres on the Parks track at Morphettville on Saturday.

Passed in at this year's Adelaide Yearling Sales the Todd Pannell guided Gulf Of Suez  led all the way.

Coming off a last start sixth Star Status returned to form when he took out the 1950 metre second race.

Being under the care of co-trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas the Jason Holder ridden Star Status came from a midfield position with a strong run late in the event.
